This Grey Sqirrel is avoiding the feeders.

The Grey Squrrel eats a lot of food put out for birds. People either love them or hate them. They are not an indiginous species in the UK so I should hate them, I don't they are cute but they damage feeders and do other damage in the garden so it is best not to encourage them.  It appears sqirrels don't like chillie, a teaspoonful of chillie powder to 2 kilos of seed or nuts seems to be putting them off so the birds in my garden now get more time on the feeders.  It's not harmful to birds and doesn't put them off. It seems to be working but time will tell.

You may know other ways of keeping sqirrels away.

Juvenile Cooper's Hawk

Looking for a morsel at the birdfeeders...our little backyard birds were too fast for this one, but I have noticed a mourning dove sans tail, so perhaps s/he got a piece!!

When you feed birds you change their environment and birds adapt to change at varying rates.

This Jackdaw has learnt how to get food from a feeder.
