| At baggeridge country park you can see
plenty of birds close up, there is a feeding station and viewing area. To
avoid the risk of rats only food that will be completely eaten by birds is fed. A few
peanuts are fed but most feeders are filled with sunflower hearts. The variety of birds is very good. Within an hour I saw :- Buzzard.
Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Eurasian
Bullfinch, Siskin, blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Nuthatch,
Robin, Blackbird, Magpie and Hedge Sparrow. Bramblings are a regular winter visiter and
Wood Lark can often be seen and heard in the summer. |
If you need to know
anything about the park you will find the staff helpful and friendly.

Two friends setting up their gear for a session. As the
birds are used to having a lot of people about, this simple screen is very effective.
Peanuts are fed but the majority of feeders contain sunflower hearts as
there is little waste and no mess. |
